This Viral 195-Gigapixel Photo Has To Be Seen To Be Believed

This astonishing 24.9-billion-pixel photo really has to be seen to be believed.

The picture, which went viral on Twitter a few days ago, is truly incredible to see for yourself. Select any part of the photo to zoom in on, and zoom in. Then zoom in some more. Then some more.

Despite starting on top of a skyscraper, you'll be able to make out individual blades of grass.

Just a normal panorama of Shanghai. Wait, no, zoom in a little more. BigPixel

The incredible panorama can be viewed here, and honestly, we can't stop playing with it. There's no part of the photo you can't see in ridiculous detail. We aren't the only ones who can't stop staring at the city.

After it went viral, many Twitter users zoomed in on the photograph to see what they could find.

The image was commissioned by the government in Shanghai, and taken by BigPixel, accordingto Mashable. Though the team have taken other massive photos of cities and beaches shot with billions of pixels, the photo of Shanghai is the first time that they've created a panorama using hundreds of billions of pixels, and the difference is incredible.

The team have made several other astonishing (if slightly smaller) panoramas, including an especially interesting view of North Korea. Other cities you can gawp at in awe include Shenzhen, Lhasa, and Macao. Prepare to lose a good week of your time.
